PARKLAND, FL (WWSB) - Today marks the one month anniversary of the school shooting in Parkland, FL. The legislature in Florida passed it’s first gun control legislation in 30 years.
The age to buy a rifle has been raised from 18 to 21. A three day waiting period was also implemented as well as mental health provisions when buying a gun. The one thing some feel is missing is a ban on assault rifles. The House also voted to fund more security for schools.
Wednesday night on ABC7 at 7, Alan Cohn will be joined at the trapezoid by Bridget Ziegler, the chair of the Sarasota County School Board, Carol Rescigno of the Brady Campaign to prevent gun control, Frank Alcock, a political science professor at New College and Ron Chapman, an attorney for the NRA.
