SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. - The city of North Port may consider bidding on the McCall Ranch. A meeting to discuss the purchase is underway Monday.

The nearly 6,000-acre cattle ranch is going on the auction block Thursday after a federal bankruptcy court ordered its sale.

The land is prime real estate for growth within the city.

McCall Ranch, located north of Interstate 75 and east of Toledo Blade/Choctaw Boulevard, previously was up for sale for $36 million. Appraisers estimate it will go for half that at auction.

ABC 7's Josh Taylor is following this story and will have more tonight on ABC 7 News at 5 & 6.
