CEDAR KEY, FL (WWSB) - The Coast Guard rescued 5 people from the water on Saturday, after their boat capsized 24 miles south of the Withlacoochee River.
According to the U.S. Coast Guard, an aircrew aboard an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Clearwater was diverted to assist with the boaters in distress. The aircrew arrived at 1:06 p.m. and hoisted the five boaters who were clinging to the hull of their 24-foot boat.
Coast Guard Officials say the boaters were safely transported to George T. Lewis Airport and no injuries were reported.
