SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - All eyes are on a baby lemur born less than two months ago at Sarasota's Jungle Gardens. Handlers say the pup is already showing a strong personality.
"He is the sibling of two other lemurs. We've noticed he's more independent than his siblings," said staff member Jordan Miller.
Miller says this is a great opportunity for the facility.
"It's pretty unusual, they're actually critically endangered in the wild so it's rare to have them in zoological settings like this so we can use them for captive breeding and make sure we keep their populations up in captivity," she said.
Miller says no name has been chosen yet, but they may have a contest for the public to help decide.
