VENICE, FL (WWSB) - The owner of the Happy Puppy Pet Spa, Phyllis Luca, will be charged with cruelty to animals, after she allegedly broke the jaw of a dog she was grooming in October.

According to court documents, Lucca told detectives that she knows she is responsible for injuries to a four-pound poodle named "pumpkin," but denied that it was an act of cruelty.

The Happy Puppy Pet Spa is located at 728 Shamrock Avenue in Venice.

In November, a former employee of the salon posted a video to Facebook  that allegedly showed Lucca abusing another dog.

No charges were filed for that incident.
