SARASOTA, Fla. -- Tonight and throughout the weekend, friends and families will not only mourn but will celebrate the lives of two Suncoast teens.

It will be a time of grieving as mourners remember 19-year-old Justin Ates and 17-year old Teria’le Rawls. Both had bright futures, killed only two days apart late last month.

The night of July 25th, a night Justin Ates wrote on Facebook would be a wild one; the Sarasota military grad was attending a house party with friends.

Sarasota County Sheriff's deputies responded to a shooting in the 4800 block of Baccus Avenue in Sarasota around 4 that morning, where they found Justin Ates dead.

Messages written by Justin on Facebook quickly turned into condolences from friends.

“This isnt goodbye. It's just see you later...”

“So sad...so young. “

“I get chills every time I see this page. I don't want to believe it. I love you homie. Rest easy my beautiful angel.”

Less than 48 hours later, another youngster that many would also call a beautiful angel, becomes another victim of violence.

Teria’le Rawls, an innocent bystander, was shot to death after a fight broke out at the Royal Palm movie theater in Bradenton.

Teria’le , going into her senior year at Riverview High School, was a popular member of the cheerleading squad and a young lady with a possible future in medicine.

“She had a way of connecting with students—a very demanding, unassuming way of always doing the right thing and getting them to do the right thing,” says Melanie Dunham, River High School’s Assistant Principal.

From doing the right thing, to being in the wrong place at the wrong time for both Teria’le and Justin.

Some of the friends of victims tonight are calling for an end to the type of violence that claimed the lives of Justin Ates and Teria’le Rawls. We will have more on this tonight, on your Suncoast news at 6.
