SARASOTA COUNTY, FL  (WWSB) - Sarasota County Elections Supervisor Ron Turner says 28% of eligible voters cast a ballot as of Noon today in the Florida House of Representatives Special Election.

Three new candidates, Republican James Buchanan, Democrat Margaret Good and Libertarian Alison Foxall are competing to finish Alex Miller's term in office.

Miller abruptly resigned last year just months into her first term citing a lack of time with her teenage sons.

State House District 72 runs from the Osprey area, up the middle of Sarasota County, to University Parkway.

Voting continues until 7pm.
