TAMPA, FL (WWSB) - Transportation Security Administration discovered three loaded firearms in two separate incidents at Tampa International Airport on Monday, April 16.
According to TSA, at approximately 5:00 a.m., a loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber and a loaded Sig Sauer .40 caliber were discovered in a passenger’s carry-on bag. A loaded Glock .380 caliber handgun was discovered in a different passenger’s carry-on bag at approximately 7:30 a.m.
TSA says they want to remind passengers that firearms are prohibited in carry-on bags.
“Passengers are responsible for the contents of bags they bring to the checkpoint,” said Mark Howell in a press release, TSA Regional Spokesperson. “Our advice is to look through bags thoroughly before coming to the airport to make sure there are no illegal or prohibited items.”
TSA officers at Tampa-International Airport have discovered 24 firearms at security checkpoints in 2018 and a total of 97 were found in 2017.
