TAMPA, FL (WWSB) - According to the United States Department of Justice, David H. Howard, 59, pleaded guilty to one count of threatening, intimidating and interfering with a Muslim's family enjoyment of their housing rights.

According to the DOJ, Howard violated Title 42 U.S.C. § 3631.

The DOJ says Howard threatened to burn down the home being purchased by a Muslim family, in the Davis Islands neighborhood of Tampa.

According to court documents, on Nov. 3, 2016, a Muslim man, identified as K.A., and his wife were conducting the final walk-through of a home placed under contract,  when Howard walked toward them and yelled, "You lied to me, you lied to me, you told me those people would not be moving into the house."

The DOJ says K.A. and his wife hurried away from the house after the incident and cancelled the closing of the home purchase.

Howard faces a maximum punishment of 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000. The sentencing date has not been set yet.
