CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL (WWSB) - Bayfront Health in Port Charlotte is the first hospital in this region to offer knee replacement surgery using a robotic arm.
The arm is the latest advancement in joint replacement surgery, which Bayfronts says, transforms the way total knee replacements are performed.
According to a press release from Bayfront Health Prot Charlotte, the total knee surgical option combines advanced robotic technology with a clinically proven total knee system, which enables surgeons to have a more predictable surgical experience with increased accuracy during laboratory testing.
“Using a virtual 3D model, I am able to create each patient’s surgical plan pre-operatively before entering the operating room. During surgery, I then can validate that plan and make any necessary adjustments while guiding the robotic-arm to execute that plan," says Nicholas Connors, M.D., board-certified orthopedic surgeon specially trained in the new total knee technique.
The total knee application is a knee replacement treatment option designed to relieve the pain caused by joint degeneration due to osteoarthritis.
The new innovative, robotic technology allows Bayfront surgeons to personalize procedures to each patient for optimal results.
