SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - This weekend marked two months since the Major Stoneman Douglas High School massacre that claimed the life of 17 students in Parkland, FL.
Sarasota and Manatee County residents gathered at five points park in Sarasota Sunday afternoon in solidarity with the victims of the Shooting.
Students and community advocates lead the event, asking for continued efforts to incite change within our school system.
The group called for an end to gun violence and pushed for the continuation of discussions within the community.
Dozens come out to the event in support of their efforts, but, like most events on the Suncoast, weather cut into the action. Organizers called the rally early due to rain.
