Wife of Flagler official pleads in traffic case

PALM COAST, Fla. (AP) - The wife of a Flagler County School Board member has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a deadly November 2011 crash.

Jamesine Fischer was in court Thursday. She faces up to three years in prison at an April sentencing. The 56-year-old Palm Coast woman is married to School Board member John Fischer, which raised questions over how the sheriff's office handled the case.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (http://bit.ly/146IIjW ) reports that Jamesine Fischer struck 76-year-old Francoise Pecqueur as she was walking her dog in Palm Coast.

The woman died two days later. Fischer did not call for help until nearly 12 hours after the crash. The sheriff's office then handled the call as a medical problem and did not send a deputy for about six hours.
