TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Tallahassee's Spring House, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, was added to the list of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's, America's 11 Most Endangered Historic Places.
"We hope to use the importance of that recognition to kick off a capital campaign, so we can purchase the house and restore it," Architect and Spring House Board Member Mary Jo Spector said.
Built in 1954, the Spring House is the only piece of architecture in the state of Florida built by famous architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The house is still owned by family members. The house is open to the public for events. Past events include birthday parties, graduation parties and small concerts.
"They wanted the house to be a place where people can come, learn and share," Granddaughter of George and Clifton Lewis, Olivia Posner said. "That was part of Clifton and George's dream."
