TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - WTXL ABC27 has obtained the video of Representative Dane Eagle's DUI arrest back in April. It shows Eagle being pulled over and not wanting to submit to a field sobriety test. Thanks to our media partners at the Tallahassee Democrat, we break down the video and show you what happened during Eagle's encounter with Tallahassee police.
April 21st, 2014 at approximately 1:50 a.m. you can see Cape Coral Republican Representative Dane Eagle driving on West Tennessee Street erratically on this Tallahassee Police Dash Cam video.
After trailing Representative Eagle for some time, TPD pulls him over and initially writes him a citation for running a red light. During the conversation, the officer asks Eagle to take a DUI Field Test.
Declining the test, Tallahassee police place Eagle under arrest.
Representative Eagle is then placed into handcuffs and taken into custody. He later posted bail around 5:30 a.m. Monday the 22nd and was on the floor of the House later that afternoon.
Representative Eagle's attorney, Matthew K. Foster, Esq., issued the following statement from Rep. Eagle:
"I want to apologize profusely to my constituents, my friends back home and my colleagues in the legislature. I understand the video related to my arrest has been released, but at this time, my top priority is the business of the legislature and I have not had an opportunity to review the video. I continue to thank you for your patience as I focus on my legislative responsibilities. I look forward to addressing you when I return home next week."
Rep. Eagle's next court date is scheduled for June 25, 2014.
