Sarasota County high school students aim high on national achievement tests

SARASOTA COUNTY - High school students in Sarasota County outperformed their peers around Florida and the U.S., on average, in this year's Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT).  Local students scored higher than national and state averages in all three sections of the SAT: mathematics, critical reading, and writing skills:

Mathematics: Sarasota County's average scores were 33 points higher than the state average, and 9 points here than the national average.

Critical Reading: Sarasota County's average scores were 30 points higher than the state average, and 26 points higher than the national average.

Writing Skills: Sarasota County's average scores were 24 points higher than the state average, and 11 points higher than the national average.
