TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- There are new questions now as to whether Adam Frasch will stand trial next week. According to our media partners at the Tallahassee Democrat, prosecutors are now trying to get a mental evaluation, which could keep Frasch in jail indefinitely.
"I believe it's a delay tactic," said Frasch's Attorney John Leace, who also says it's a bit unusual for the state to file a motion looking into a defendant's competency, since that's usually something a defense attorney would try to bring up.
Frasch was arrested in Panama City Beach in February where he was found with his two children just hours after his wife Samira's body was found in the family's home swimming pool. He had been previously released from jail on bond, but was later rearrested after investigators say they found three guns inside Frasch's Thomasville, Georgia office. It was a violation of his terms of release. Investigators say claims of medicare fraud led them to searching Frasch's office.
Frasch's trial on custodial interference charges are scheduled to begin June 2. While no suspects have been named, Leon County deputies are considering Samira's death a homicide.
