MIAMI (AP) - A South Florida man has been sentenced to six years in prison for the hit-and-run death of an 11-year-old girl.
A Miami-Dade County judge sentenced 37-year-old Harvey Abraham on Thursday. He was convicted in November of leaving the scene of an accident involving death and tampering with evidence by attempting to have his truck repaired.
Authorities say Ashley Nicole Valdes was crossing a West Kendall street in January 2009 when Abraham hit her with his truck. The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/13rcunM ) reports that police arrested him after receiving a tip about him trying to get his truck repaired.
