MIAMI (AP) - A South Florida man has been sentenced to life in prison for a fatal carjacking A Miami-Dade judge sentenced 26-year-old Cesar Ruiz on Tuesday.
He was convicted in October of first-degree murder. Authorities say Andres Felipe Del Castillo was on a break from work in June 2007 when Ruiz and 18-year-old Emilio Perez-Tejon pulled him over using police-type lights.
Ruiz held Del Castillo at gunpoint while the two drove off in Del Castillo's 1996 Impala. Perez-Tejon was later arrested in possession of Del Castillo's ID and credit cards and told police about Ruiz.
The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/13fdHN6) reports that Perez-Tejon's trial began this week.
