TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WWSB) – In recognition of National Adoption Month, Gov. Rick Scott has proclaimed November as Florida Adoption Month.
Gov. Scott, along with the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) have launched the “30 Days of Amazing Children” campaign. Each day during the campaign, DCF will highlight two amazing children from the community who are looking for a forever home at AdoptFlorida.org.
The online campaign will also feature pictures of and stories about children available for adoption and the kind of family they hope to find. Many of them are teens, sibling groups and children with special needs who have been hoping for a family for a long time.
“I urge all Floridians to consider opening their hearts and homes to children in this state who are in need of a forever family,” states Gov. Scott in the official proclamation. “I am proud to celebrate Florida Adoption Month as we raise awareness of foster care adoptions in Florida. Every child deserves a loving family and adoption provides a unique opportunity to improve children’s lives and enrich the lives of adoptive parents.”
This year, more than 3,400 children were adopted across the state. Over the last 15 years, the department and its community-based partners found families for more than 47,700 Florida children.
