TALLAHASSEE- The chairman of the Republican Party of Florida is asking U.S. Rep. Trey Radel to step down.

Radel recently pleaded guilty to cocaine possession.  On October 29th, he attempted to buy $250 worth of cocaine from an undercover police officer in a Washington, D.C. neighborhood.

Radel has since taken a leave of absence and checked himself into a rehabilitation facility, but RPOF Chairman Lenny Curry says Radel should resign.

Curry released a statement saying, "The people of Florida’s 19th Congressional District need a Congressman who is 100 percent focused on the needs of Southwest Florida. Therefore, Congressman Radel should step down and focus his attention on rehabilitation and his family.”
