TALLAHASSEE, Fla.,(WTXL)--The Florida State Board of Education today thanked Barbara Feingold for her service as a member of the State Board and for her decades of commitment to students. Feingold said, "It has been an honor to work with the great men and women of this Board and in our schools around the state. I want to thank Governor Scott for this opportunity to serve and I appreciate his leadership and focus on helping Florida's children succeed. I loved my tenure on the Board and it was with great regret that I asked Governor Scott not to reappoint me when my term ended in December so that I can devote my time to personal matters. I am confident the Board will continue to work together to ensure every child in this state has the opportunity to succeed and thrive."

"I want to thank Barbara for her service to the state, her dedication to the students of Florida and her friendship," said Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart. "Her decades of concern and passion for helping underserved and challenged students has improved the lives of countless children."

Feingold's term began in July 2011 and ended in December. While on the State Board, Feingold also worked with the United Way and early learning coalitions to improve reading readiness for minority children. Feingold was instrumental in Governor Scott attending the Annual Florida State Science and Engineering Fair in Lakeland last spring.
