WASHINGTON, D.C. (WTXL) -- ABC News is reporting Florida Republican Congressman Trey Radel will resign from Congress.
This resignation comes after Radel was charged in November with buying cocaine.
Unidentified sources tell Politico that Radel, 37, is sending his letter of resignation Monday to House Speaker John Boehner. Radel had been in Congress for just six weeks before pleading guilty to cocaine possession and checking into a rehab clinic.
He was charged with purchasing 3.5 grams of cocaine during an undercover sting in October in Washington, D.C. Reuters reports the House Committee on Ethics had said in December that it planned to investigate whether Radel violated congressional rules or laws as it relates to his responsibilities in Congress.
