FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - The Florida Department of Transportation is set to begin repairs to an interstate ramp that was damaged when a box truck crashed and was left dangling over the edge.

The crash left one person dead early Wednesday morning on the State Road 84 ramp at Interstate 95 in Fort Lauderdale.

Transportation officials told The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/WT3xz5 ) the repairs could begin as soon as Tuesday. But first hazardous-materials crews have to dig up the soil under the spot where the crash happened due to diesel fuel and engine fluids that leaked after the crash.

DOT spokeswoman Barbara Kelleher says about 10 feet of concrete barrier will have to be replaced. She says the work will require intermittent closures. It should take a couple of days to complete the project.
