TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Today, Carlos Lopez-Cantera will be officially sworn in as lieutenant governor of the state of Florida.
Lopez-Cantera, a former state lawmaker and property appraiser, will be taking over the position that's been vacant more than 10 months.
Former Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll abruptly left the position in March of 2013 amid questions surrounding work she once did for a charity, which turned out to be a front for an illegal gambling scheme.
Carroll was never accused of any wrong-doing.
Lopez-Cantera will also be Governor Rick Scott's running mate on the 2014 ballot.
