MIAMI (AP) - A 15-year-old accused of fatally shooting another student on a South Florida school bus will be tried as an adult.
The Miami Herald (http://hrld.us/Y0hnOS ) reports the teen will be transferred to the Miami-Dade County Jail after being on house arrest since the shooting just before Thanksgiving.
His first appearance could come Thursday morning. Authorities say 13-year-old Lourdes Guzman-DeJesus was killed when the teenager took a pistol out of his backpack while the bus was taking the students to school. It fired, striking Guzman-DeJesus in the neck. The shooting happened in front of the girl's 7-year-old sister.
The Herald reports the student will face formal charges of manslaughter, carrying a concealed firearm and possession of a firearm by a minor on Jan. 28.
