PORT CHARLOTTE, FL (WWSB) - Charlotte County Fire & EMS responded to a house fire around 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Three fire engines, an ambulance and a battalion chief were called to the home on Mineral Avenue.
According to Charlotte County Government, three people were home at the time of the fire and all made it out safely after being alerted by smoke alarms.
Charlotte County Officials say one of the residents admitted to having a lit candle in the walk-in closet of the bedroom, where the fire was located. The State Fire Marshal is investigating and will have the final ruling on the cause of the fire.
The house is unlivable due to the fire damage and Red Cross is now assisting the family.
