SARASOTA, FL - It could soon cost more to park at the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport.

The airport authority is scheduled to vote on an annual budget Monday, part of which  includes raising costs for customer parking.

They also want to bump up the price of airlines rental and landing fees.

The airport is hoping to make up for what is expected to be a drop in revenue this next fiscal year.

The public budget hearing will take place Monday at 1:00 pm  at the Dan Mcclure Auditorium on Airport Auditorium Lane.

ABC 7 Reporter Ray Collins is on the story.

I won't be able to attend the meeting, but IMHO, raising fees at SRQ is a really bad idea. SRQ needs incentives to get more travelers and more airlines to use the airport. Raising fees for both simply reinforces the notion that it's too expensive to use SRQ, especially since there are world class airports within driving distance.

To make up for the revenue shortfall, perhaps they should start with cutting expenses?
