PUNTA GORDA, FL. - Authorities have arrested a woman for coming at deputies with a knife.

It happened at the Trail Apartments on Wednesday after deputies were called three times to that location for continued disturbances.

Arrested on three counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer (Knife) was 25-year-old Kathryn Nicole Brickley and her boyfriend, 33-year-old Kevin Gerald Brennan was arrested for Resisting an Officer. Both were staying with another couple at the Trail Apartments in South Punta Gorda Heights.

The first call came at 11:43 p.m. Wednesday for a verbal disturbance between two women, one being Brickley. The situation was defused by deputies and they cleared the area at 12:05 a.m. Thursday. At 12:34 a.m., the call was reactivated; deputies responded again. This time there was an argument about a neighbor who had called CCSO to complain about the disturbances at the apartments. Brickley and Brennan again began arguing and this time Brennan became argumentative and verbally abusive toward deputies. All persons involved stated there would be no further disturbances and they went back inside the apartment.

As deputies were about to drive away from the scene at 12:44 a.m., Brennan came out of the apartment waving his arms and yelling. Deputies informed other deputies to return to the scene. Brennan ran toward the patrol in an aggressive manner but was finally calmed down. Another deputy ran to the apartment to see if anyone was hurt because he heard yelling from inside. Brickley and another woman inside said no one was hurt but Brickley broke a lamp, a window, and threw things around inside and they wanted him arrested. Deputies said since no one was injured this was a civil matter. Both women began yelling and cursing at all deputies on scene.

As deputies stood with Brennan, Brickley began throwing Brennan’s clothing and personal belongings outside and began yelling and arguing with Brennan. When she came out she was told by deputies to move away at which time Brennan yelled at the deputy to not put his hands on his girlfriend and he walked aggressively toward them. Three deputies told him to stop but he refused. Brennan pushed through the deputies and attempted to get back into the apartment. At this time Brennan was arrested and taken to jail.

Both women became very irate and unruly in the apartment and deputies outside could hear them yelling and things being thrown inside. At this time, deputies saw Brickley break a window with a 12-inch knife; she then stormed out the door with the knife in her hand, cocked back above her shoulder in a threatening manner coming at three deputies. After several verbal commands by deputies, she put the knife down and was arrested.

EMS transported the other woman to a local hospital for anxiety treatment. The events of the night involved multiple deputies and a Punta Gorda Police Officer to assist. Brickley remains in the Charlotte County Jail on no bond; Brennan remains in jail on $1,000 bond.
