SARASOTA COUNTY - Opening statements are set to begin today in the murder trial of a Venice man accused of killing his girlfriend and neighbor in 2011.
John Alen Lee allegedly attacked Traci Nabergall and Jason Salter inside Salter's home in Venice during an argument.
According to police reports the two victims were found nearly decapitated.
A jury was seated on Thursday. This is the second attempt to try Lee for the murders. Last September, a mistrial was declared after it was discovered jurors were discussing the case among themselves.
If convicted, Lee could face the death penalty.

Facts- The two victims were neighbors. The ex-boyfriend was jealous and a few days before killing them, busted into Jason's house during his birthday party and assaulted him and Traci out of jealousy. He was arrested for battery on them both and a no contact order was issued for him to stay away from both of them. He bonds out of jail a few days later and sends 50+ texts and calls to his ex-girlfriend. The next day he enters Jason's house and Traci was there. They are both gruesomely murdered. And you report that they were "allegedly attacked during an argument"? Really?
