UPDATE: New questions surrounding Sarasota Pumpkin Festival organizer

SARASOTA - Since last week, ABC 7 has received complaints involving Lazarus Fernandez- the man behind the Sarasota Pumpkin Festival.

We've learned that despite having a felony record, Fernandez was issued a Level Two security clearance, which allows him to host events at Sarasota County District Schools.

The district says that, under school board policy, Fernandez was not convicted of any crime that bars him from working as a vendor at a school event.  If Fernandez applied for a job with the district, or to volunteer in a school, he would have been disqualified.
