NORTH PORT - Northbound lanes of I-75 in North Port experienced rush hour delays Thursday after a messy tractor-trailer crash.

It happened just before 6pm at mile marker 185, between the Sumter Road and River Road exits.

According to those on scene, the driver of a tractor-trailer somehow lost control and swerved off the highway. The truck overturned, spilling what's believed to have been diesel fuel all over the highway.

Hazmat crews responded to the cleanup while the driver was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital.

The crash shut down two northbound lanes of I-75 for several hours.
