VENICE, Fla. - The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three people with criminal histories that they say were driving around Venice Wednesday night doing drugs and trying to sell stolen goods.

Shortly after patrol deputies responded to two residential burglaries on Bahama Road where $1,400 worth of fishing rods and reels were stolen, members of the Tactical Unit spotted a vehicle with several fishing rods extending out the window.

Deputies contacted the driver, 40-year-old Marianne Dolleman of Venice, who said 25-year-old Steven Scott and 22-year-old Kayla Masek, both of Venice, paid her to drive them around so Scott could try to sell the stolen items.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies say they also found two drug pipes, a syringe that tested positive for opiates and a bag of Ryobi tools which were later determined to be stolen in a third burglary on Sunset Beach Drive. Deputies also found two bracelets which Scott had stolen from Dolleman’s home earlier in the night.

Dolleman is charged with Dealing in Stolen Property; Masek is charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia; and Scott is charged with four counts of Burglary.

Scott was arrested last month during "Operation Booster Buster" for stealing from Beall’s Outlet in Venice, had been arrested in February for failing to appear in court on Grand Theft charges.

Altogether the trio has a local history of 35 arrests.
