Suspect still at large in YMCA canoe and kayak thefts

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Detectives investigating the theft of a canoe and six kayaks from the Charlotte Harbor YMCA center are still looking for one of the suspects.

Charlotte County Sheriff's detectives are still attempting to locate 20-year-old Taylor Hendrix, whose last known address was on Cleveland Drive in Punta Gorda.  He is suspected of being involved in the burglary and theft of a canoe and six kayaks from the Dotzler YMCA Center on Bayshore Road in Charlotte Harbor between July 5 and July 8.

Information that has been received to this point indicates that Hendrix may be in Sarasota County, possibly in the North Port area.

Detectives arrested 22-year-old Andrew Michael Ahrens of Punta Gorda on July 10th on charges of Grand Theft and Violation of Probation in connection with this case.

Anyone with information on the location of Hendrix is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office at (941) 639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
