NORTH PORT, Fla. - Supporters of Warm Mineral Springs are restless over the fact that the springs remain closed. Tuesday they held signs urging North Port and Sarasota County commissioners to think outside the box and reopen the springs soon.
The springs have been closed since July 1st after the two governments couldn't agree on a short-term operator.
The spring had been a popular attraction, particularly with European visitors. Some believe the waters contain healing properties.
Last month another management team was selected to take over, but backed out because of the repairs needed at the springs.
North Port officials say they would like to see a long-term agreement that will reopen the springs.
There's no word on when the matter will be discussed again.
