CHARLOTTE COUNTY - Sheriff's deputies are searching for two men they say intentionally struck a deputy with their truck and fled to avoid arrest Wednesday.

It happened at a home on Alatadena Drive in Tropical Gulf Acres at 9:15pm.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, two deputies were attempting to serve an arrest warrant to 33-year-old Jeffrey May.  As they approached the truck he was sitting in in his driveway, May told the driver, 22-year-old Hunter Morrison, to drive away.

The truck backed out of the driveway, the drove forward towards the deputies, striking one of them in the leg.  The truck then sped off southbound on Burnt Store Road, towards Cape Coral.

The injured deputy was treated and released from Charlotte Regional Medical Center.

The getaway pickup truck was found Thursday in a ditch east of Punta Gorda.  A tip to deputies indicated that Morrison was spotted at a relative's house in Tropical Gulf Acres, getting a change of clothes.  A search of the area was unable to locate him, though.

Morrison and May are being wanted for committing Aggravated Battery by Intentionally or Knowingly Striking a Charlotte County Deputy with a Motor Vehicle to Prevent Apprehension. If anyone has information the whereabouts of Morrison or May, please call CCSO Detective Richard Nix at 941-639-2101, or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS.
