SARASOTA COUNTY - The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is informing the public that 61-year-old David Jackson has registered as a Sexual Offender living in Sarasota County.

Jackson was convicted of Indecent Assault of a Victim under 13 and Corruption of Minors in Pennsylvania in 2003 and sentenced to one to two years in prison. In 2011 he was arrested in Miami-Dade County on a fugitive warrant out of Delaware for failing to register as a Sex Offender when he lived there.

Jackson relocated from Miami and will be living at 6549 Bodmin Lane in North Port.

This information is also being posted on the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office web site and the agency’s Facebook page as part of a new initiative to more publicly notify citizens of sex offenders and predators who register a Sarasota County address for the first time.

Officials still recommend that citizens sign up for sex offender alerts from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to receive regular notifications of routine registrations and address changes.

Just exactly what is the law here in FL regarding distance from a school? Or is there any law? I am concerned that this offender is uncomfortably close to major school in this community. Also, thanks for letting the community know as information is half the battle.
