Possible shark fishing ban at the Venice pier

    Any Florida caught shark 43" or bigger is loaded with mercury and on the "Do Not Eat List" - see page 27: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/floridafishadvice/2013_Brochure.pdf

    Of the regulated species sharks under 54" are not allowed to be taken: Fla salt water fishing regs:

    You can also see the few unregulated species you can keep under 43" are also loaded with mercury and should not be eaten by women of child bearing age or young children.

    = No reason to fish for sharks !
