VENICE, Fla. - Venice Police have arrested a volunteer instructor with the Venice High band they say confessed to sexually victimizing a 14-year-old student.

18-year-old Johnathan Ranew was arrested Tuesday and charged with Lewd & Lascivious Battery.

According to Venice Police, a school resource officer received a complaint from school administration reporting that the student had been sexually victimized.

Investigators determined that the victim was inappropriately touched by Ranew last week while in a vehicle parked in a Venice Regional Medical Center parking lot.

Ranew was interviewed Tuesday by police and confessed to numerous illegal activities with the victim.
