SARASOTA COUNTY - The North Port Police Department Criminal Investigation Bureau is actively investigating an incident that involves a prowler in the North Chamberlain Boulevard area.

In the past several weeks, the suspect -- described as a white male wearing all dark clothing -- has been peeping through windows, apparently targeting young female teenagers.

Residents are encouraged to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons or vehicles in the area.  It is also recommended that residents keep their outside lights on to ensure highest visibility at night. Other safeguards may include the lowering of blinds and using caution when answering the door.

The North Port Police Department is viewing cases of this nature as a priority and will be actively patrolling the area utilizing varied investigative measures. The agency will be issuing a Code Red to request the assistance of citizens living in the area. This action is intended to reinforce the importance of looking out for their neighbors and reporting any suspicious persons or activity.
