NORTH PORT - City commissioners in North Port are set to decide whether to move forward with an ordinance allowing residents to have backyard chickens.
The decision will be made at the commission's regular meeting Monday afternoon. This is the second reading of the ordinance.
If passed, it would allow homeowners to keep up to four egg-laying hens on their property. However, the chicken owner could not sell the eggs or other chicken products.
The city commission meeting began at 1pm. We’ll update with more information as it’s available.
