SARASOTA COUNTY - As we approach graduation, some students across the Suncoast are being honored for overcoming hardships to become the most improved students in the district.

The program is designed to honor the students for their achievements, increase self-esteem and motivate them to continue on a positive path.

Last month, 40 students from Sarasota and Venice were recognized at a luncheon for most improved by the district.

Today, North Port is recognizing 10 of their most improved students. The district held a luncheon at the Heron Creek Country Club in North Port.

All student recipients of the award will receive a cash award that will go toward furthering their education after high school.
