PORT CHARLOTTE - A Deep Creek man is facing numerous charges after deputies say he was caught selling FPL copper wire at a recycling center.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, a deputy located 32-year-old Terry Davis at a Port Charlotte recycling center after an anonymous caller reported a man cutting metal wire from utility poles along Wateau Court and Capricorn Boulevard in the Deep Creek area.

The wire he was selling was clearly marked and identifiable as property of FPL.

Davis told detectives that he got the wire from his neighbor.  Detectives later located a wire cutter with copper residue in Davis' vehicle.

An employee at the recycling center confirmed that Davis also sold copper wire to them three times last week.

A deputy also questioned his girlfriend who was waiting in the car, 22-year-old Teara Sander.  The deputy asked her for identification; her purse was open and the deputy observed a spoon with scorch marks and white residue, plus a hypodermic needle. The residue tested positive for opiates.

Both were arrested and taken to the Charlotte County Jail.

Davis was charged with four felony counts of Dealing in Stolen Property, three felony counts of False Verification of Ownership to a Secondary Metal Recycle, and Petit Theft. He remains in jail on $28,000 bond; this is his eighth booking.

Sander, a convicted felon, was charged with Possession of Opiates and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was released on $3,000 bond; this was her seventh booking.
