CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. - Deputies have arrested a Florida man in Charlotte County after an 11-year-old Ft. Myers girl told authorities that he and another man had sex with her.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, the victim had been staying in a youth shelter and was granted a weekend home visit. When she got home on September 4th, she ran away.
Upon return to the shelter, told a counselor about the sexual battery that occurred by two men in an unknown Port Charlotte home.
The girl says a man driving a custom-painted purple car asked her if she needed a ride and she accepted. She says the man took her back to the Port Charlotte home, where she had sex with him and another man. She said she did not resist because she feared for her life.
Tuesday, Charlotte County deputies located the purple car and performed a traffic stop. The driver, 37-year-old Christopher Roberts, had been identified by the girl as the suspect. He was arrested and transported to Charlotte County Jail and is being held on no bond.
The other man has been identified, but his name has not been released pending further investigation.
This is Roberts fourth booking at Charlotte County jail this year. He was arrested on drug charges last January, and then April 30 in an undercover prostitution operation for Deriving Support from Prostitution at a Jones Loop Road area motel. At the time of that arrest, Roberts was living on Cape Horn Boulevard in Burnt Store Lakes.
