SARASOTA COUNTY - An 18-year-old man was arrested Thursday in connection to a shooting incident in which one man was injured.

Sarasota Sheriff's deputies were called to the vicinity of the Manasota Key public beach around 5pm Thursday after reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, units located a 21-year-old man with an injured hand who claimed he was shot by a man known as "Sam" following an argument.  The victim was taken to Venice Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators later located and arrested 18-year-old Samuel Ball and charged him with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm.

However, the investigation also revealed that the victim had not been shot during the discharge of the firearm by Ball.
