OSPREY - The Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission has ordered an Osprey country club community to immediately stop the removal of trees from a rookery.

Work began earlier this week to remove Brazilian Pepper Trees from an island along the Oaks Club Golf Course.

It's also the home to up to 1400 nesting birds.

The FWC is now investigating a permit given to the club to remove the vegetation.

While the work has stopped for now, some residents worry it may be too late to save the birds.
