OSPREY, FL. - An Osprey man is in critical condition after driving his car into a pond on Tuesday.

Sheriff's deputies say 78-year-old William Kawalec drove his Acura into a pond in the Rivendell neighborhood.

The car became fully submerged before sheriff's deputies and firefighters pulled him out.

The sheriff's dive team was called in to search for any passengers, but fortunately he was alone in the car.

Kawalec was rushed to Venice Regional Medical Center.

Investigators are not sure what caused him to drive into the pond.
