CHARLOTTE COUNTY - A Cape Coral man was arrested Tuesday after deputies say he stole a $40,000 semi-truck from the company that had just fired him.

58-year-old William Arthur faces a felony charge of Grand Theft Motor Vehicle.

According to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, Arthur was fired from U.S. Express by the owner on Tuesday morning and turned in his keys to the truck.  When the owner returned later that day, the truck was missing.

A deputy made contact with Arthur, who said he took the truck and it was in Ft. Myers.  Arthur later contacted the owner to tell him he was not getting his truck back.

He was later located by Lee County Sheriff's deputies and transported to the Charlotte County Jail and held on no bond.  The truck was located by Florida Highway Patrol in Hendry County.
