PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The driver of a dump truck was cited Monday for crashing into two vehicles that had stopped for an emergency vehicle and spilled fuel all over the road.
It happened at 8:17am at the intersection of U.S. 41 and West Tarpon Boulevard in Port Charlotte.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, a dump truck driven by 23-year-old Valentin Pupo of Cape Coral was southbound on U.S. 41 approaching the intersection. Pupo failed to stop for two cars ahead of him that had stopped for an emergency vehicle that had proceeded into the intersection with emergency lights activated.
The dump truck struck both vehicles, one of which was then pushed into the emergency vehicle. The truck spilled approximately 100 gallons of diesel fuel onto the roadway.
The drivers of the two non-emergency vehicles were treated for minor injuries.
