Driver sought after passenger dies in rollover crash

CHARLOTTE COUNTY - State troopers continue the search for the driver of a pickup truck who crashed his vehicle over the weekend and walked away, leaving behind a passenger who died.

It happened just before 2am Saturday on U.S. 41 just south of Longley Drive in Port Charlotte.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, troopers say a Nissan Titan rolled over after its driver lost control while attempting to pass another vehicle.

Two passengers were thrown from the truck. 45-year-old Raymond Montero of North Port died. 45-year-old Richelle Maria Watkins Howarth of North Port was taken to Lee Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
