PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - A Moore Haven man is in critical condition after troopers say his truck was rear ended Thursday evening east of Punta Gorda.

It happened on Bermont Road at the intersection with Bronco Road, which is about 7 miles east of U.S. 17.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, 36-year-old Woodrow Hough was driving eastbound on Bermont Road and stopped for traffic at the intersection.  That's when a tractor trailer truck driven by 27-year-old Daryl Collins of Punta Gorda was unable to stop and crashed into the rear end of Hough's pickup truck.

Hough was critically injured and was flown to Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Collins was uninjured.

Charges are pending the completion of an investigation.
